Has had any significant success with Ulcerative Colitis patients specifically?Updated 2 months ago

In regard to the complex pathogenesis of ulcerative colitis (UC), research supports that there is intestinal microbiota dysbiosis, environmental factors, genetic factors, and host immune system disorders. Additionally, the imbalance between mucosal immunity and the gut intestinal microbiome bacteria results in inflammation of the intestinal lining that contributes to UC development.

Our testing uses 16s  rDNA analysis that presents the bacteria that one may be overgrown in or deficient in.  Our probiotic recommendations are based on pathogenic overgrowth, symptoms, and dysbiosis one may be experiencing. Research has shown that specific strains of probiotic bacteria can improve intestinal mucosa integrity and barrier function contributing to immune system functions and helping to suppress inflammation.  This additionally may help restore the function of the disrupted mucosal barrier, addresses dysbiosis, and drive down harmful bacteria in the intestine. Based on the research, strain-specific probiotics have been shown to help those with UC.

While we have not measured response in our UC customers, research does support the modulation of gut bacteria in those with UC.
