Blautia is an important bacterium found in the human gut microbiome. Blautia uses fats and carbohydrates to create succinic acid which is important in mitochondrial health and signaling. Blautia is a good indicator of health since lower levels of Blautia have been associated with different diseases such as liver disease and diabetes. This does not mean that low Blautia levels indicate these diseases necessarily, it just is a good indicator that healthy levels of Blautia are a good indicator of overall health. Blautia cannot be directly put into probiotic supplements with current technology, but there is a lot you can do to boost existing levels.
