Antibiotics and ProbioticsUpdated a year ago
While antibiotics can negativity affect the gut biome, bacteria species can grow back if they are at adequate levels within the gut biome. Some species that are extremely low before a broad spectrum antibiotic, can be completely wiped out however this is generally the case with ongoing antibiotic use or multiple antibiotic dosage.
If taking an antibiotic, it is suggested to take alongside a probiotic (not within 2-3 hours of each other). Additionally, incorporating a prebiotic (which selectively feeds beneficial bacteria) may offer beneficial support.
