What does the Vitamin K score mean?Updated 2 months ago

The pathways for biosynthesis of vitamin K2 have been shown within the gut to be associated with specific bacteria such as Bacillus. This score does not indicate low levels of vitamin K; an exact measurement of vitamin K would need a serum test. The score indicates that the bacteria associated with the production of K2 within the gut is deficient or below detectable levels. This information helps us understand we may need to incorporate a supplement or foods containing vitamin K2, such as fermented foods, dairy, organ meats, and fermented soybeans (natto which is specifically rich in vitamin) K2).
